Our client is one of the oldest and most established commercial art galleries in the world. This is an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Sales Director.
Main Responsibilities:
Excelling in driving sales from lead generation to close, meeting an annual sales target.
Working alongside the Managing Director and Head of Modern & Contemporary Art and the Gallery’s team on cross-departmental programming, exhibitions and selling.
Building and developing the new 20th Century Department within the Gallery.
Proactively generating business opportunities and deepening client relationships in the field.
Providing high level of service while addressing the client’s collecting interests.
Managing and maintain relationships with a portfolio of clients to address and anticipate clients needs, elevate the relationships, and determine best curatorial strategies for their collecting goals.
Building a network of strong museum relationships between 20th century curators and the gallery.
Providing curatorial and up to date market expertise and trends.
Planning and accompanying client visits to museums, galleries and art fairs.
Coordinating the design, editing, production of new client proposals.
Expanding the gallery’s services to their new and existing client base.
Work closely with the gallery team to develop and execute strategic plans for generating new business.
Providing guidance on philanthropic relationships and legacy planning, including museum affiliations and strategic gifting.
Keeping current with the art world, market ecosystem and art fairs.
Expanding and implementing out strategic plans for client acquisitions and deaccessions across the entire art market.
Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience with primary and secondary market transactions.
Natural ability for sales and identify opportunities.
Extensive tracked record of sales.
Previous experience working with Art Logic or any other CRM systems preferred.
Effective communication skills at all levels.
Location: New York or London (client will consider someone who is based in London that can travel to NY when needed)
Timeline: Full-time
Salary: $100-150k + commission
