Role description:
A leading London gallery is looking for a Junior Fine Art Researcher to join their team. This role will provide critical research and support and work closely with a senior member of staff.
The Ideal candidate will have a BA and MA in History of Art and will be able to demonstrate critical awareness of key discourses within the art world.
Reports to: Senior Fine Art Researcher
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- In depth research of artworks
- Provenance research, attributions, and bibliography
- Cataloguing, documenting and updating database accordingly
- Writing entries based on specialist research (including provenance, bibliography compilation and illustration lists)
- Working on loan requests
- Working on publication projects
- Proof reading and fact checking
- Archival research
- Provide administrative support to senior staff
- Consult and liaise with experts, curators and institutions internationally to obtain artwork/image/artist information and documents
Person Specification
- Educated to at least Masters level in a relevant Art programme
- Experience researching artworks, clients, sourcing and performing provenance checks
- Great writer academically; experience of writing for web highly advantageous
- Experienced in using gallery management software and databases & IT literate
- Confident and able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented person
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with any additional languages highly desirable
- Highly motivated
