Our client is a commercial art gallery in Edinburgh specializing in 20th century Scottish and contemporary fine art in conjunction with international applied arts.
They are looking for a Galley Manager (Maternity Cover) to work closely with their Gallery Directors in a varied and well-rounded role.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the smooth running of the gallery administration, office, and programme support
  • Reporting to the directors, working closely with the registrar and exhibition co-ordinators
  • General core administration, including monthly mailing
  • Working with numerous suppliers, including designers, printers, and framers
  • Front facing communication by phone, email, and in person
  • Maintain ongoing promotion and advertising of the gallery
  • Arrange transportation of work to and from the gallery, both nationally and internationally
  • Develop and maintain client lists and database management
  • Update the gallery website
  • Supporting the events programme, with live and recorded events via Zoom
  • Art handling including hanging, packing, and preparing paintings and artworks
 Candidate Specifications:
  • Proactive, driven, and hands-on management skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure while maintaining a high level of written and oral communication
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Punctuality and ability to meet deadlines
  • A key team player and motivator with experience successfully leading a small team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with front facing customer service and support
  • Highly developed administrative and IT skills, including database management
  • Experience managing social media and mailings
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft package, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, in particular Photoshop and InDesign
  • A flexible and practical approach to work and the ability to take guidance and instruction
  • A full clean driving licence
Desirable but not Essential:
  • Genuine interest in and enthusiasm for art
  • Film and audio experience – Premier Pro and YouTube
  • Experience with Matterport and File Maker Pro
Location: Edinburgh

5-day week with one additional Saturday per calendar month (time off in lieu) with additional hours as required for associated events (time off in lieu).
Salary: 27.5k + (dependent upon relevant skills and experience)
