A contemporary art gallery based in London, that is dedicated to celebrating contemporary emerging artists and takes pride in providing an opportunity for collectors to support highly talented artists at a pivotal moment in their careers.
The Role
The gallery is looking for a candidate who is passionate about the emerging art space, ready to work in a fast paced, startup environment, and very organised. The gallery was primarily doing pop-up exhibitions and only recently moved to a permanent space and the directors are now looking to build a strong team. They are looking for candidates that will grow with the gallery and potentially offer them the chance to move to more senior roles in the future.
Responsibilities
Gallery Operations
– Being a friendly, welcoming face for visitors
– Assisting directors with general admin tasks to ensure smooth day to day running of gallery
– Coordinating deliveries & pick ups
– Managing shipping
Exhibitions and sales
– Coordinating openings and events
– Assisting at the private views
– Logistics, hiring materials, liaising with artists
– Opportunity to assist with sales
Marketing and communication
– Newsletters
– PR assistance
– Writing press releases and artist bios
Research
– Research on potential artists and collaborations
– Keeping the art world calendar up to date (art fairs, major exhibitions, openings in London).
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in art history or a related field is preferred
– Previous experience working in a gallery, museum, or art-related organisation is highly desirable
– Fluency in English and proficiency in writing
– Excellent organisational skills and time management
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Reporting to: The Directors
Working hours: 9 – 6 pm, five days a week (Tuesday – Saturday but not every Sat is compulsory)
Start: Early September
Salary: £25k DOE
