The Gallery is looking for an Associate Director to become an integral part of a gallery which is showcasing art and also cultivating cultural conversations. The Associate Gallery Director will be at the forefront of defining the contemporary collections in Austin and beyond, leading exhibitions that challenge conventions and inspire dialogue.

With over 20 years of art world experience, the gallery specialises in post war and contemporary art with an emphasis on street art and graffiti. They represent emerging and well-established artists, and proudly hold in their collection a fantastic growing selection of blue-chip artists.
Person Specification:
The candidate will be ready to contribute their passion for art and culture to a dynamic and forward-thinking gallery environment and to possess the following qualities and interest in:
- Having deep love and appreciation for art, being a driven individual to pursue a career as an Associate Director.
- Developing impactful art collections, shaping and defining the success of their gallery’s sales team by placing high value artworks, and establishing strong, life-long relationships with collectors and taste-makers.
- Shaping artistic trends, introducing new artists, and contributing to the cultural dialogue.
- Supporting artists and helping them to gain recognition and to make a living from their art.
- Developing business strategies, organizing events, and creating partnerships to enhance the gallery’s success and reputation, and be open to different entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Networking and connecting with artists, collectors, curators, and other professionals in the art world to establish collaborations, and partnerships.
- Contributing to educational initiatives, organizing workshops, lectures, and educational events to engage with the community and foster deeper understanding and appreciation for art.
- Being a strong manager and leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of the gallery, manage staff, and handle administrative tasks.
Essential experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of Sales Experience in commercial fine art industry.
- Robust experience managing and utilizing CRM systems (ArtCloud).
- Fluent and elevated communication skills.
- Experienced in all sorts of network and client facing; cold calling and creating appointments.
- Comfortable in collectors’ homes for private viewings, in gallery for viewings, and generating interest in the gallery through relationship building.
- Demonstrated experience meeting monthly personal and team sales goals.
- Contemporary Art experience (with artists, represented in the gallery, preferred).
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Networking experience and enthusiasm is a must.
- Strong managerial and organisational skills and ability to be self-motivated.
- Strong network of established contacts within the region and national art scene is a plus.
- History of Art or any Arts education is a plus.
- B2B sales is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Operating as Art Consultant contributing to sales targets.
- Managing the Gallery in the Director’s absence.
- Daily Sales/Weekly Reporting to Gallery Director.
- Event Support.
- Community Building, Reviews, and Key Relationships.
- Maintaining excellent customer service and retention

Salary: $60,000.00 plus monthly commission and bonuses
