Job Title: Sales Associate Director / Director (subject to experience)

The successful candidates will have previous experience in international art fairs, a proven sales track record, and will have an established network of clients.

Purpose
To contribute to the gallery’s growth through selling and consigning primary and secondary market artworks, participating in the development and execution of the gallery’s commercial strategy

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to gallery’s sales objectives by achieving individual sales target
  • Maintain active relationships with existing clients whilst developing new clients
  • Enhance the gallery’s standing and reputation within and outside of the industry
  • Bring to bear existing, and establishing new relationships with other galleries, curators and institutions in order to create opportunities for gallery artists
  • Participate in planning and strategy surrounding art fairs, exhibitions, new artist outreach, museum / institutional projects / sale

Key Performance Indicators

Primary Market Sales

  • Sales figures achieved versus individual sales target
  • % sales to buyers not previously sold to by the gallery
  • Consistent sales to repeat clients and development of new clients
  • Variety of artists sold within the gallery’s programme
  • Number of sales to museums or foundations

Secondary Market Sales

  • Sales figures achieved versus individual sales target
  • Number of works consigned/sold

Other KPIs

  • Development and execution of sales strategy for specific gallery artists
  • Generating of institutional and external exhibition opportunities for gallery artists
  • Individual performance at art fairs

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum three years in client-facing role at gallery, auction house or art advisory
  • Demonstrate personal sales track record in excess of £300,000 annually in previous position
  • Possess active network of international clients and institutional contacts
  • Art history degree/qualification, ability to demonstrate broad art historical awareness
  • In depth understanding of the contemporary art market and gallery system
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work well in a small team, possess sensitivity and discretion in working relationships.
  • Excellent industry reputation
  • Detail-orientated

Interview process would be with our sales associate, gallery manager, as well as the Director of the gallery.

Salary: Up to £50,000 + commission
