About:
Our client is a newly founded, beautiful art gallery for Fine Art Photography in the Algarve which opened summer 2022. It offers contemporary high-end photo art, working closely with internationally renowned and Portuguese artists.
They are looking for a Gallery Director to operate the gallery, manage the team and ensure its commercial and artistic success.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the smooth of the gallery and managing the team
- Drive sales and develop client relations
- Communicate directly with artists
- Front facing communication by phone, email, and in person
- Coordinate marketing and collaborations
Candidate Specifications:
- Qualification in Arts or Business studies
- A genuine interest in and enthusiasm for art photography, and sound knowledge of the current scene
- Relevant practical experience in an art gallery or arts organisation
- Sales ability and commercial awareness
- Excellent organisational abilities
- Strong communication skills
- The ability and confidence to deal with a range of people
- Administrative, social media and IT skills
- Fluent in English and ideally Portuguese
Desirable but not Essential:
- Other language skills like German, French, or Dutch
Location: Algarve, Portugal; (needs to be present in the gallery, no home office)
To start: 1.3.2024
Salary: € 45.000 to € 50.000 (flexible) with potential for bonus and/or other benefits
