Our client is a Contemporary art gallery founded in Nigeria. They represent and exhibit emerging and established artists working across diverse media in Africa and the diaspora and aim to promote, engage, and make art from Africa more accessible internationally.

The HR Business Partner is a critical management role, providing both strategic and operational leadership to drive the HR agenda for the organization’s employees across a range of functions. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer, the role will play a key part in forging a great team international culture across the organization. 

Job specifications

  • Implement, oversee and nurture the gallery’s World-Class and Global HR strategic framework, aligning this with the wider strategic plan.
  • Manage and develop the team ensuring their full effectiveness through guidance, development, training and development. 
  • Work closely with the CEO to ensure HR is at the forefront of decision making, especially upskilling across the organization’s Operations. 
  • Define and implement a world-class global people/culture strategy that is reflective of Gallery goals and objectives. Onboarding process should be effective and consistent with strengthening organizational culture. 
  • Design and implement a Learning and Development Programme that ensures all staff are sufficiently skilled to meet strategic and departmental objectives and enable a world-class high performance culture across our operations.
  • Administer all day to day human resource functions including but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; time and attendance, disciplinary matters; investigations; performance reviews; policies and procedures; occupational health and safety; and leadership and professional development. 
  • Lead coordination of the full cycle of the recruitment process and delegate tasks to various administrative staff as necessary, including reviewing and posting job descriptions, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, drafting job offer letters 
  • Manage onboarding process for new employees, including benefits and payroll enrolment. Background checks, reference verification and all orientations to ensure a seamless introduction to the gallery. 
  • Design and execute ongoing staff learning opportunities that incorporate skills development and cultural competency. Develop wellness initiatives that improve work/life balance, and engage staff at all levels.
  • Maintains current knowledge on local, state, federal and international employment laws, trends and best practices, regulatory changes. 

 

Candidate specifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar position, not necessarily in the art world
  • Fresh perspective and looking to make a difference and be an integral part of the gallery’s growth. Ambitious and self-directed working style.
