Our client is one of the most influential and longest-running international contemporary art galleries in the world. Today their gallery supports and promotes the work of more than 60 international artists across two spaces in London, three in the US, and one in China, as well as 2 forthcoming galleries in China and the US.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Collection Registrar to join their team. The role will be based in London and will service agreements across all gallery locations. The Collection Registrar will be responsible for creating consignment agreements for artworks consigned to the gallery by the client’s artists, and the continued management of the artworks throughout the consignment period. Reporting to the Head of Contracts, the Collection Registrar will sit within the Registrar department.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and manage consignment agreements for all artworks consigned to the gallery throughout all gallery entities (UK, USA, and China).
- Control all aspects of the administration related to consignment agreements, including liaising with the gallery’s artist management team to ensure that the consignment agreements are signed, and filed appropriately.
- Ensure all details are kept updated on the database throughout the consignment period.
- Schedule and conduct a yearly review of all consigned artworks and produce annual reports.
- Create artwork records using the gallery database system, ensuring that the artwork details are accurately recorded, including customs status and location.
- Provide cover when required for Head of Contracts.
- Work with the Head of Global Registration on annual storage audits when required.
- Looking at the best use of customs statuses/storage locations for artworks long term.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of database management systems
- Previous experience in registration practices and working with a gallery or museum collection
- Previous experience in drafting and amending agreements
- Have highly organized working methods and excellent attention to detail
- Be able to work across a large team based in several countries
- Excellent understanding of Apple Mac, Word, and Excel
- Good knowledge of the contemporary art market
- Knowledge of import regulations
- Occasional weekend work as required
- Providing leave cover where required

Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Full-Time
Location: London – currently operating on a hybrid model with 2/3 days at the office, and the rest of the days working from home.
Salary: £36k – £40k+ per annum DOE
