Our client is looking for a full-time junior technician for the gallery in London.
Purpose of the job:
The Technician assists the Head of Operations with the smooth running of the gallery’s exhibitions and art fairs. Qualified candidates must be confident and comfortable handling complex and delicate artworks in a fast-paced environment. Experience of working for at least 1 year within a commercial gallery or museum environment is essential. The gallery technician will also be assisting the registrar, so the split between technician and registrar tasks would be 40/60.
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be physically fit and strong enough to lift artworks within reason in order to perform essential tasks. Please note, this is solely a workplace-based role; and some travel to international art fairs may be required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Installation of exhibitions and art fairs
– Safe handling and packing of artwork
– Condition checking artworks using Articheck
– Organise local shipments/logistics
– Keeping records up to date within our Artlogic database
– Technical maintenance and upkeep of the gallery space
– Point of contact and liaison with all service providers
– Coordinate with framers and restorers
– Procure all equipment, tools, and materials
– Maintain an organised and tidy workplace
– Assistance to Head of Operations/Registrar as needed
The ideal candidate:
– Has hands on experience of Art handling.
– Is detail oriented, punctual and extremely well organised
– Has knowledge of Contemporary Art and European Art History
– Outgoing, friendly and helpful attitude, with an ability to build relationships, and work flexibly and independently, and as part of a team.

Salary: £25k-30k
Reporting to: Head of Operations
Hours: Full-time, 10 am – 6 pm, Monday – Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.
