Our client is a well-established London Auction House with over 20 departments dedicated to a breadth of specialisms and works of art from all eras and mediums. They are seeking a Head of Marketing to lead their Marketing & Design team.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise and implement a marketing strategy and annual plan, within agreed budgets, in line with the company’s business plan
  • Work with Heads of Department and the marketing and design team to deliver integrated marketing campaigns to achieve sales objectives; work with the Leadership Team on marketing campaigns to achieve business objectives
  • Work with the Leadership Team and Senior Graphic Designer on devising, developing, and implementing the overall brand strategy for the company in line with the business plan – be a brand champion for the auction house
  • Take overall responsibility for the monitoring and evaluation of all marketing activities to better inform strategy and plans
  • Monitor and analyse competitor activity
  • Oversee the marketing content schedule including the planning of campaigns and delivery of assets
  • Oversee the marketing team and help create copy and content for digital, email, social, and print channels. This includes the design of all marketing collateral including advertising, brochures, proposals, signage, and stationary
  • Take overall responsibility for the Digital Marketing Strategy, working closely with the company’s digital agency in audience development and ensure thee successful delivery of campaigns for both the business and individual departments
  • Act as a point of contact for advertisers as well as seeking out new advertising opportunities both domestically and internationally
  • Help produce consignment proposals, with the relevant Head of Department and others
  • Work with/oversee the work of the Content Manager on:
  • The implementation of a content strategy/content calendar
  • The planning, writing, and editing of marketing content and communications both online and offline, including the website, social channels, and press
  • Developing influencer marketing
  • Media outreach, press, and public relations
  • Oversee the work of the videographer in content production for the website and social channels
  • Take overall responsibility for website management, copy, images, and analytics in line with marketing plans and departmental activities
  • Responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the auction house’s brand
  • Ensure staff awareness of the brand guidelines and their application
  • Take overall responsibility. For the management of the marketing budget
  • Line manage the Senior Graphic Designer, Content Manager, and Marketing Coordinator
  • Provide regular reports to the Leadership Team on marketing activity and KPIs
  • Take overall responsibility for marketing suppliers including agency management regarding marketing activity
  • Oversee the management of the CRM system and email database, and ensure adherence to GDPR good practice
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures and any relevant external bodies or processes
  • Participate in organization-wide meetings, activities, and processes, and develop internal contacts, networks, and interactions as appropriate
  • Carry out other duties as required by the Directors and Managing Directors

Candidate Specifications:

  • A degree-level qualification relevant to marketing
  • Extensive experience in the field, either at auction, within the trade, or at another relevant institution e.g. gallery, museum, or business related to the arts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills, including first class written and spoken English
  • Confident, driven, and dynamic leader
  • Excellent team working skills, and an ability to motivate a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work tight auction deadlines across a range of busy departments
  • Experience working on projects of all sizes, long and short-term; demonstrated ability to prioritise a variety of concurrent projects
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced team environment
  • An interest in the arts and cultural heritage

To start in January
Salary: £45-50k DOE
