IT consultant needed for major Zurich based gallery

Our client, a major Zurich based gallery, is looking for either a temporary person for 2 to 3 weeks or a permanent employee for the IT of the gallery for an immediate start with the following qualifications:

-Experience with programming
-Experience with Content Management Systems such as Wordpress or Drupal

The gallery was founded in the 60s and is a gallery for Classic Modern and Contemporary Art. Based in Switzerland, the gallery participates at the leading art fairs around the world for 20th and 21st Century Art, has published over 200 art books, co-curated exhibitions with the leading art museums worldwide and represents some of the most important artist estates of the 20th century.

For work permit reasons it would be preferable if the applicants have a European/UK passport or are Swiss citizens.

Gallery will pay moving expenses and potentially assist in helping to find an apartment in and around Zurich for the selected candidate if he/she is currently based outside of Zurich.

Junior ART HISTORIAN / RESEARCHER / CATALOGUER needed for major Zurich gallery

The above position requires knowledge of in depth 20th century art historic research. The position further requires due diligence research on provenance, literature sources and exhibition records, writing analytical cataloging texts, as well as working with one of the finest in house 20th century art libraries in private hands. A knowledge of 20th century modern art history is key, as is an ease of use of all electronic medias required for research and filing information. Language skills should include English. German, French, Italian or Spanish would also be of advantage. The candidate should ideally have experience in working for a major international gallery.

Contemporary Gallery in Azerbaijan seeks Gallery Director

A popular contemporary gallery based in Azerbaijan which presents contemporary Azerbaijani art by local and foreign artists is recruiting a Gallery Director.

The director's responsibilities will include:

·       ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery;

·       developing and/or maintaining the gallery's remit;

·       maintaining ongoing promotion and advertising of the gallery;

·       overseeing the type of art work sold;

·       planning, organising, presenting and marketing exhibitions and shows, including responsibility for public relations;

·       arranging transportation of work to and from the gallery, both nationally and internationally;

·       organising equipment hire;

·       negotiating with gallery managers and curators from other galleries to arrange for loans;

·       keeping front of house staff briefed on technical and artistic matters relating to programming;

·       developing client lists by notifying potential clients of particular works and exhibitions, according to their stated interests;

·       extending the client database;

·       liaising with visiting artists and negotiating sales;

·       cataloguing acquisitions and keeping records and archives;

·       developing and updating the gallery website;

·       promoting and selling artists' work, through both exhibitions and personal contacts;

·       keeping up to date with industry developments and market trends;

·       general administration, budgeting, finance and accounts.

The approximate salary will be 2000-2500 Euro/month.

Although the position is based in Azerbaijain, the client is interested in foreign candidates. A relocation package will be provided.

Major Zurich gallery seeks Junior Art Handlers
This is a complex position of handling highly valuable and very diverse objects of 20th century paintings, sculptures, installations and works on paper. Installing and hanging of exhibitions is as much a part of the position as skillful packing of artworks and overseeing the inventory status and conditions of the works of art in the gallery's art storage. Driving licenses are required, as are communication skills in English and German.

Major Zurich gallery seeks experienced Registrar

This position is of great importance and high responsibility for the company, overseeing all aspects of the extensive gallery inventory of paintings, works on paper and sculptures.
The daily tasks include, custom formalities, transport organisation and loan/consignment requests, as well as the coordination with the galleries technicians for exhibitions or art fair installations and being responsible for keeping all aspects of the inventory status up to date. Due to the very international aspects of this position, languages such as German and English are required. With up to seven international art fairs a year, exhibitions in three gallery locations in Switzerland and numerous art storages under gallery management, precision and organisational skills are needed. Ideally one would have previously worked for a leading gallery or museum in the position as Head Registrar. Otherwise one might have some experience in the international shipping business. One has to bring IT skills.
