Commercial Director needed for major event organiser

Salary Range  £35 - 45K plus bonus (Depending on experience)

One of the UK's foremost independent event organisers have recently been appointed as the Commercial Partner of a worldwide debating organisation who stage frequent high profile debates in London.

Our client are now tasked with overseeing the organisation's commercial development and in particular developing their extensive sponsorship programme and seek a Commercial Director.

The candidate will have no less than five yeas sponsorship/sales/corporate development experience and be used to presenting at senior level. They will be resourceful and able to identify new opportunities.  The candidate will be well educated and have a significant experience in current affairs.  They will also be available to frequently attend evening debates.

The candidate needs to be confident enough to go to sponsorship pitches on their own.

New Asian Contemporary gallery looking for a Gallery Manager

Opportunity type:       Fixed-term, Full-time 

Working hours:           45 hours per week 

Salary:                         Circa £15 - 18,000 per annum plus sale commissions

Our client is a new art gallery, located in central London, with operation in South Korea. The gallery represents the finest modern and contemporary art and design to an international audience, creating a bridge between the Eastern and Western art scenes.

The gallery has dedication and specialism in Asian contemporary art. In particular, it advocates Korean art and provides a platform for Korean artists in London showcasing the most exciting art from Korea. The gallery also promotes the interchange and conversation between the global art arenas, introducing British and European art into Asia.

 The Gallery Manager will be responsible for overseeing the general functions (ie: Art Sales, Administration, Marketing & Communications, PR, Events, Publications) while heading the development of exhibitions and working closely with the Gallery Director. The role will involve executive management of the team of collaborators of the gallery and cooperating with external curators.

The candidate will be self-motivated and experienced in working within a contemporary art gallery framework. Someone who is presentable, mature and confident in using own initiative and approaching work in a proactive and professional manner and someone who will commit long-term. Knowledge and understanding of the contemporary art scene in the West and East are ideal. Demonstrable experience of project management, specifically in planning, organizing and delivering ?projects is essential, as are good written and verbal communication skills.

Person Specification

•      At least 3 years proved experience in a commercial contemporary art gallery OR strong sales potential

•      Experience in working with an art gallery database.

•      Experienced in sales, with a medium-sized client base and good at networking.

•      High degree of digital literacy – skills in Microsoft Office and Mac Os X platforms.

•      Basic knowledge of business and accounting.

Commercial Sales Developer needed for tapestry studio in Scotland

A one hundred year old tapestry studio and contemporary art space based in Edinburgh seeks a Commercial Sales Developer to promote tapestry commissions and studio activities as well as sell current stock. Tapestries average £30-40k.

This role could be suitable for a more senior person to work full-time or part-time with a proven track record in sales of high value work and good base of contacts OR it could be a more junior, fulltime role with the candidate shadowing the Director. The candidate should be entrepreneurial and able to develop relationships with galleries, interior designers, etc. The ideal candidate will have experience in tapestry/contemporary art markets and come with a book of interested collectors and/or someone with a business development background and a strong interest in sales. The candidate could also come from a luxury/major gallery network. Someone who also is sensitive to artist management and artist relationships.

International candidates will be considered if they possess the right contacts. Client is looking to fill the role asap but will wait for the right person.

Salary for a fulltime, junior person will be around £25k. Salary for a full or part-time senior person will be commensurate with experience and would include bonus arrangements.
